A Humble doctor and a fierce politician, Monica Wehby fighting for the people of Oregon

Monica Wehby is an eminent Neurosurgery Specialist from Oregon who turned to politics to bring greater change. She is a highly respected person in the state and well-known for her work across the US. Monica completed her studies in 1998 to join the ranks of esteemed doctors in the pediatric neurosurgery at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Oregon. Here is a brief look into the distinguished life of Monica Wehby.

Dr. Monica Wehby has dedicated a part of her life as a pediatric neurosurgeon and saving innocent lives. She has operated on children who suffered from acute or high-risk brain conditions. During all these years of hard work and dedication, Dr. Monica has been bestowed with countless laurels and awards. People have time and again recognized the selfless work Monica has done to improve children's overall health.

As a member of The American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and The American College of Surgeons, Dr. Monica has a significant role in shaping the health care in the state. Dr. Monica is also a part of the certification of The American Board of Neurological Surgery.

She was awarded the Congressional Medal of Distinction for her extraordinary work to improve children's health. She also won America's Most Compassionate Doctor Award for her devotion to the field of health care. Dr. Monica Wehby was the first women to join and graduate from UCLA's neurosurgery program in 1998. She became a part of the board of trustees of the American Medical Association. But she soon resigned to work full-time as a pediatric neurosurgeon at Randall Children's Hospital, Oregon.

Dr. Monica pursued a BA in Psychology and BS in Microbiology from the University of Notre Dame and completed them. She even attained her fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in 1997. After getting her fellowship, Monica decided to shift to Oregon to work as the pediatric neurosurgery director at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. 

A fierce politician

All along these years, practicing her trade to the limit, Dr. Monica realized that a lot needs to be done in the healthcare sector. She felt that there is a strong need for urgent remodeling of the current health care system. Thus, in 2014, Monica entered active politics as a Republican candidate in the United States Senate for Oregon.

During the campaign, Monica shared her views on the current state of health care. She said, "I want our kids to have the same opportunities that we had. I'm really concerned when I look at the way things are going we may be the first generation that can't say that their kids are going to be better off."

Monica has effectively used her stage as a politician to voice the worsening health care condition that she experienced during her practice. She believed there needs to be a considerable transformation that prioritizes the doctor-patient relationship above anything else during actual policymaking.
