Monica Wehby- A Doctor, Mom, and Politician

Monica Wehby MD is a pediatric neurosurgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. She received her medical degree from a college known as Baylor College of Medicine and also completed her neurosurgery residency with flying colors at the UCLA Medical Center. With her great knowledge, she was also awarded a neurosurgery fellowship from the Primary Medical Center for Children. Previously, she also served the Children’s Hospital of Legacy Emanuel as the Medical Director of Pediatric Neurosurgeon.  

About Her Life 

Born on 7th May.1962 in Nashville, Tennessee, Monica’s mother was a registered nurse, and her father was a Certified Public Accountant. In1979, Monica graduated from Father Ryan High School and then to study BS in Microbiology and BA in Psychology, she went to the University of Notre Dame. She has also studied at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she was appointed as the student body president and the senior class president. In 1995, she completed her neurosurgery residency at UCLA Medical School, and also for completing her fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery, she went to the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1997. The next year, she moved to Portland, Oregon, where at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel she became pediatric neurosurgery director.  

Her Political Career 

Monica has seen a lot of ups and downs in her political career. In October 2013, she declared that she would be a representative of the Republic nomination for the U.S. Senate. She defines herself as personally pro-life as she saves small babies and also support abortion right. She took a firm stand opposing the federal government in their interference on same-sex marriage and abortion. Through her campaign ad, she supported same-sex marriage openly.  

Wehby got married to James Jim Grant, a physician in Portland, and ended up with divorce in 2007. She has four children with him and she stays with them in a suburb of Portland, Garden Home. Monica Wehby, a moderate on social issues is known as the best-positioned Republican. She developed a national profile because of her strong position in the party.
